Overly large and heavy breasts strain your body and sometimes affect your self-image. Heavy breasts place a burden on your back, neck, and shoulders, and they can undermine your self-confidence. Many women with cumbersome breasts develop excess breast tissue during or shortly after puberty, and this excess weight leads to emotional distress and physical discomfort.
Breast reduction with a breast lift is performed to restore smaller, more attractive, and balanced breasts. Reduction mammoplasty is a common plastic surgery procedure that removes and tightens excess breast fat, tissue, and skin so that women can gain comfort and confidence. Using advanced reduction techniques, Dr. Gallas can sculpt your breasts into a smaller, more attractive shape and natural size.
Am I a Candidate for Breast Reduction With Breast Lift?
Women consider breast reduction with a breast lift to alleviate the negative side effects brought on by the presence of large, sagging breasts. Large breasts develop in response to genetics, hormonal changes, and weight gain.
Candidates for breast reduction with lift are healthy non-smokers with realistic expectations who are looking to:
- Relieve back, shoulder, neck, or chest pain
- Enhance their ability to exercise comfortably
- Eliminate bra indentations on the shoulders due to heavy breasts
- Minimize skin irritations, rashes, and infections under the breasts
- Return symmetry to the breasts and/or areolas
- Reposition downward-facing nipples
- Straighten their posture
- Increase clothing options
- Restore confidence in their breast physique and figure

How Is Breast Reduction Performed?
Breast reduction is performed to remove excess fat, glandular tissue, and skin from overly large breasts.
This procedure is performed with general anesthesia and takes between two and five hours to complete.
Where Are the Incisions Used for Breast Reduction?
The length of your breast reduction incision will depend on the degree of excess breast tissue and the amount of removal desired.
- Periareolar incision: Two concentric incisions are made around the areola to remove excess tissue and skin. This incision is only appropriate for women with a small degree of breast sagging.
- Keyhole incision: The incision runs around the areola and down to the bottom crease of the breast. This technique allows for more correction than a periareolar incision.
- Anchor incision: The incision runs around the areola, down to the bottom crease of the breast, and along the breast crease. Even though this has the most extensive incision, it is the most common technique since it allows for the most significant amount of correction and a better scar formation.
Should Breast Lift Surgery Be Combined With Breast Reduction?
Breast lift surgery is performed alongside a breast reduction to raise the breasts and restore breast contour. This procedure tightens the remaining glandular tissue and trims the excess skin. The nipple-areola complex can be reduced in size and repositioned during a breast lift.
Breast lift surgery can also be performed as a standalone procedure for women who desire to tighten the breast tissue without removing breast tissue.
Where Are the Incisions Placed for Breast Lift Surgery?
Breast lift surgery is performed through your breast reduction incisions (see above). If you select to undergo breast lift surgery without a reduction, your incisions will mimic those of a breast reduction and depend on the degree of lift necessary.
What Will Your Breast Reduction Recovery Be Like?
Breast reduction with a breast lift is an outpatient procedure, and you can return home within a few hours of completion.
You will be sore, bruised, and swollen following your operation. A compression bandage will cover your breasts to help reduce swelling, promote circulation, and ensure that the breasts heal in their new, elevated position.
Scarring will exist at the incision sites. This scarring will be noticeable initially but will fade with time. You can help reduce the severity of the scars by limiting stress on the incision sites and applying silicone strips and scar gel once the incisions have closed.
Most patients return to work and their normal activities within one to two weeks, but strenuous upper body workouts are restricted for about four to six weeks.
When Will I See My Breast Reduction Results?
Your breast reduction with breast lift results will be noticeable soon after the procedure and will continue to improve as the bruising and swelling subside. Most of the swelling dissipates within a few weeks. The breasts will be smaller, tighter, and raised.
The results of your surgical procedure will be long lasting if you maintain a stable weight. Significant fluctuations in weight, pregnancy, and the natural breakdown of breast tissues over time will negatively affect the appearance of your breasts.
Following this procedure, women can adjust to a more comfortable, active, and confident lifestyle. Your range of upper body movement will expand, posture will improve, and self-image may be enhanced.
How Much Does Breast Reduction With Breast Lift Cost?
Breast Reduction surgery is customized to you, and the cost of the procedure will reflect that personalization. Dr. Gallas will provide you with a cost estimate during your consultation once he has finalized your surgical plan. This estimate will include anesthesia and facility fees, as well as surgeon’s fees and includes all post-operative follow up.
