Breast Enhancement

A woman’s breasts are a symbol of her femininity and confidence. Unfortunately, women have no control over the development of their breasts. Some women’s breasts never develop to the extent that they want, and others mature far too much. And while some women’s breasts age gracefully, others find that pregnancy and weight fluctuations cause significant problems to their overall appearance.

Breast enhancement surgery alters the size, shape, elevation, and projection of the bustline to achieve a breast aesthetic that you are happy with. Whether this is your first cosmetic surgery, or you are looking to improve or correct a previous operation, Dr. Gallas offers a breast plastic surgery procedure for you.

Breast Lift

Breast lift surgery addresses premature breast sagging—or breast ptosis—following pregnancy, weight loss, or the natural aging process. This plastic surgery procedure raises the breasts by tightening the glandular tissues and removing loose skin. This surgery can also repair downward-facing nipples and enlarged or stretched areolas.

While breast lift surgery restores youthfulness to the breasts, it does not significantly alter the size of the breasts. Women interested in an increase or decrease in size will need to combine their breast lift with additional breast surgery. Most women return to their normal routines within one to two weeks of the procedure and only experience mild to moderate bruising and swelling.

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation uses breast implants to enlarge and reshape undeveloped breasts, asymmetrical breasts, or breasts that have lost volume with age or breastfeeding. This surgical procedure inserts saline or silicone breast implants under the natural breast tissue or under the pectoral muscles to enhance breast aesthetics. Implants are available in a wide variety of options and can be tailored in size, shape, and profile.

Breast augmentation with implants allows for long-lasting enlargement. It can be performed alone, in combination with a breast lift as part of a Mommy Makeover or along with another body contouring procedure. Breast augmentation usually requires a few days to one week of downtime, and the results will be noticeable as soon as the bruising and swelling subside.

Breast Implant Removal

Breast implant removal is a secondary breast enhancement procedure that is performed sometime after breast augmentation with implants. This surgical procedure is beneficial for women who are displeased with the look, feel, or the health of their implants and wish to part ways with them permanently.

Breast implant removal is a straightforward plastic surgery procedure that removes an unwanted or damaged implant, usually through the initial breast augmentation incision. It is performed for women who wish to return to a natural breast aesthetic, are experiencing physical complications with their implants, or are concerned about the safety of their implants.

Breast Revision

Breast revision is a secondary breast procedure that is designed to improve and enhance breast aesthetics and/or comfort for women with breast implants. Breast revision typically involves the removal and replacement of damaged or unwanted breast implants.

Breast revision is performed for women who experience implant complications like capsular contracture, implant rupture, double-bubble deformity, or bottoming out, or are displeased with the aesthetic results of their initial surgery. Breast revision allows women to swap out their current implants for ones of a different size, shape, or profile. Breast revision usually uses the same incision as your initial breast augmentation to limit post-operative scarring.

Breast Reduction

Breast reduction surgery alters the size of the breasts by removing excess glandular tissue and fat. The development of overly large and cumbersome breasts—whether during adolescence or after pregnancy—places excessive strain on the back, shoulders, neck, and chest. This stress causes undue pain and skin irritation, and the appearance of large breasts can warrant unwanted attention.

Breast reduction surgery reduces the breasts so that they will be in balance with the rest of your body frame. Most women experience one to two weeks of downtime, after which they will enjoy increased physical and emotional comfort.

Breast reduction is combined with a breast lift to address any sagging that the heavier breasts may have caused.

Gynecomastia

Women are not the only ones to develop unwanted breast tissue. Excess breast tissue can develop in men in response to hormonal changes, medications, weight gain, or use of drugs or steroids. The development of unwanted breast tissue and fat in men is a condition known as gynecomastia, and it can lead to emotional and physical discomfort.

Gynecomastia surgery reduces the excess breast tissue in the chest through surgical excision or liposuction. During this procedure, the excess glandular tissue is excised, and the fat is permanently suctioned out. Rarely is it necessary to have the extra skin removed.

Gynecomastia is a condition that is often not corrected without plastic surgery. Most gynecomastia surgery patients return to their regular routines after one to two weeks and strenuous exercise after four to six weeks.
